First-time customer, switched from DIY after a fall the previous winter. Three-storey detached, full perimeter on three sides plus two front-entry pillar wraps and a 25-foot blue spruce in the front yard.
What we did
Five hours, two people, one Saturday morning:
- Mapped power needs first, single dedicated GFCI on the front porch handles everything (no extension daisy-chains)
- C9 commercial-grade warm-white bulbs along all eaves, clipped not stapled
- Pillar wraps with mini-string mesh, secured top and bottom
- Spruce wrap done from inside-out (top first, branches outward), avoids tangles
- Tested the full system on a programmable timer (4:30pm on, 12am off)
- Logged the layout and clip pattern for next year, we'll do the same install in 3 hours flat
January removal
Christmas-lights install is the easy half. Removal in January is what most DIY-ers underestimate, that's when ladders are icy and the clips have frozen on. We come back, take everything down, label-and-store the strings, and put them in your basement bin. No surprise cleanup work for you in March.
